Edward W. Gordon, CEP
Edward W. Gordon, founder and guiding principal, has over 20 years of experience in the field of business and estate planning. Mr. Gordon is a graduate of the State University of New York with a major in Business Economics and Finance. He holds the Series 6, Series 63, Life & Health License, and is a Certified Estate Planner.
Mr. Gordon is an active member of The Study Group, an organization devoted to the promotion of ethics, education, and technical advances in the financial services sector. He is also an active member of the American Society of Certified Estate Planners. In addition, Edward Gordon is an active member of STEP, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Mr. Gordon is a frequent panelist and speaker at industry events. He has authored several articles and a book covering estate planning and related topics.
Mr. Gordon began his career in 1990 with New York Life, followed in 1993 to 2005 with various planning roles at Arnone, Lowth, Fanning, Wilson & Rubin. In 1996 Edward Gordon founded E.W. Gordon & Company, Inc., the predecessor company to Preservation Capital Partners LLC.
Gerald R. Nowotny, J.D
Gerald Nowotny, at expert in tax planning uses of life insurance and annuity contracts for high net worth clients and institutional investors, has 20 years experience in advanced life insurance tax planning, private placements annuities and programs.
Gerald Nowotny holds a J.D. and LL.M. from the University of Miami and a B.S. from the United States Military Academy. He is a member of the Florida Bar Association, a Certified Financial Planner, Chartered life Underwriter, and Chartered Financial Consultant.
Mr. Notwotny has a record of accomplishment in providing financial services and creating value for high net worth clients and institutional investors, including developing and marketing $1 billion of niche proprietary Private Placement Annuity programs; providing detailed analysis of $9 billion in Private Placement Group Variable Deferred Annuity contract assets; developing platforms for Offshore Private Placement Life Insurance marketing projects generating more than $110 million; and devising a global International Private Placement Insurance Program generating more than $100 million.
In addition, Mr. Nowotny has published 12 articles in industry periodicals, including a treatise on International private Placement Life Insurance. He has also been a speaker and presenter at ten major legal, life insurance and hedge fund seminars.
Before joining Preservation Capital Partners, LLC, Mr Nowotny was founder and principal of Long Gray Line Consulting, LLC, a specialty consulting firm focused on tax planning uses on life insurance and annuity contracts for high net worth clients and institutional investors. Mr. Nowotny's experience also includes creating private placement life insurance and annuity products with Deloitte & Touche, Marsh McClellan Financial Services, Mass Mutual, and the Philadelphia Financial Group/AGL Life Assurance Co.
Jason D. DePierro
Jason DePierro, a partner with Preservation Capital, has been involved in the life insurance industry since 1998. Mr. DePierro holds a NY Life & Health license along with NASD series 6 & 63. His clients include some of the wealthiest individuals and business owners in the nation-the majority with a net worth of over $25 million, and many with estates of several billion.
Jason DePierro analyzes existing plans, indentifies issues, provides solutions, and assists with remediation and amending existing plans. He designs and implements sophisticated tax strategies which minimize his client's estate tax exposure, incorporating the use of trusts, gifting strategies, life insurance, foundations, and business succession plans to structure financial solutions for his clients. He assesses his client's current insurance contracts to determine the most tax efficient method to manage existing coverage, and to purchase additional insurance using innovating funding solutions.
Additionally, Jason DePierro advises hedge funds, banks and portfolio managers with regard to life insurance policy valuation and enhance portfolio value for investors.
Prior to joining Preservation Capital as a partner in 2010, Mr. DePierro was a partner with LifeSet Advisors. Mr. DePierro began his career with Metropolitan Life in 1998 and in 2000 he joined the firm Arnone, Lowth, Fanning, Wilson & Rubin.
Jordan Toder, CLU
Jordan Toder is an expert in life insurance audit, analysis, and uses of insurance in business and estate planning applications with over 35 years of industry experience.
Prior to joining Preservation Capital Partners, Jordan was the Insurance Specialist for Merrill Lynch Private Banking and Investment Group in New York City. Jordan specialized in insurance structures for their high net worth clients, defined as minimum $10 million investable and routinely mid eight to nine figure relationships.
Market sectors included private equity, Fortune 500 directors and officers, charitable organizations, and inherited wealth. Sales increased exponentially (1800%) during his tenure.
Preceding Merrill Lynch Jordan was associated with Arnone, Lowth, Fanning, Wilson & Rubin, Inc.- a regional estate planning firm with offices in NY and FL. Jordan exhibited skills in communication strategies to high net worth prospects supporting their wealth transfer and accumulation objectives. Market sectors served were closely held companies in manufacturing, a national retail and real estate development.
He began his career as an agent for Equitable Life, where he was awarded the Hall of Fame medal, a lifetime production award, among other annual production awards.
Jordan received a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Albany and holds the designations of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) from the American College, Bryn Mawr, PA.
Burton A. Goldstein, CLU
Burton Goldstein has served the financial planning public for more than 50 years as agent, general agent , home office executive and entrepreneur. He has extensive experience in the life industry serving wealthy individuals, professionals and businesses. He has consulted major public companies on specialized mass marketed products and advised professional associations on group health coverage and administration. A major focus has always been the business owner and his/her need for effective planning to create a tax structure that maximizes personal and family benefits.
Burton Goldstein has been active in youth athletics and is responsible for acquiring land to be used as baseball fields by his local little league. He has also negotiated with the State of New York for the leasing of land to be used for a golf practice range.
Burton received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wabash College and holds the designation of Chartered Life Underwriter from the American College, Brayn Mawr, PA. He has been married for 53 years, has three grown children and four grandchildren. He resides in Glen Cove, NY.

Irving Don specializes in providing financial solutions and guidance to individuals, families, and businesses for their financial planning needs. Irving Don has been in the financial services industry for over 25 years, and specializes in advising high net worth families in the customization of life insurance and financial products purposed for minimizing estate tax exposure while maximizing asset values for loved ones. Mr. Don began his career with an accounting degree from Pace University, NYC in 1980, and then worked at Price Waterhouse and Company while earning his MBA in Taxation at St. John’s University in the evenings. During years at both Price Waterhouse and Arthur Andersen, Mr. Don worked in the areas of taxation, auditing, forensic investigations, and bankruptcy. In following years, he acquired as both primary investor and active CFO, several companies in the retail food distribution and home furnishing businesses. Having worked as both a CPA and actively operating his own businesses, valuable experience has allowed Mr. Don to gain insight into the needs of individuals and businesses owners, their tax considerations, exit planning, and family estate planning strategy.
